Questions about in-person commencement activites

The Corvallis event will take place from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 and will include an informal processional, departing from the Library Quad and the Memorial Union Quad to arrive at Reser Stadium, where graduates will be seated for very brief remarks from the Interim President, the Provost and the college deans. Face masks will be required. We encourage you to wear your caps and tassels as well as comfortable shoes for a long walk. The processional and commencement celebration is in addition to the virtual commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m.

Because family and friends will be unable to attend, graduates will be given an opportunity to take their photo at booths set up in Reser Stadium. Additionally, a photo station will be set up in the MU during the week of June 7 – Monday through Thursday – for graduates to take selfies.

Graduates from the class of 2020 and 2021 are invited to the in-person commencement celebration and processional on June 11, 2021.

Eligible graduates from 2020 and 2021 received an email on May 26th at 4PM with a link to RSVP to this celebratory processional. The deadline to RSVP is June 8 at 11:59 p.m.

To contribute to public health safety, this event will be for graduates only.

Graduates will line up at noon near the MU and Library Quads in areas designated for each college. At approximately 12:30 p.m., graduates will process with their college to Reser Stadium. Depending on the location where your college starts, this processional may be long, so please wear comfortable shoes. Don’t forget to wear your cap and tassel.

Graduates are encouraged to wear regalia if they have it available, and the cap and tassel that was mailed out in April.

Questions Regarding the Virtual Commencement Ceremony

The 2021 commencement ceremony will be held virtually on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. Given the status of COVID-19 in Oregon, nationally and internationally, we are unable to gather in-person. While disappointing, the decision to hold a virtual commencement ceremony was made with health and safety as the number one priority. We hope that you invite your friends and family to view the virtual commencement.

To view the virtual ceremony, visit the commencement website. Please check your OSU email and the commencement website regularly for updates.

The virtual commencement will appear live on the commencement website on June 12th at 10:30 AM (PDT) and will remain up for future viewing.

Yes, the virtual commencement ceremony will be available to view on the commencement website anytime after 10:30 AM (PDT) on June 12, 2021.

All eligible students were invited to RSVP to participate and prepare a graduation slide to be shown during the virtual ceremony. The deadline to complete a graduation slide was May 15th at 11:59 PM. All graduates will have a slide shown during the commencement ceremony, and slides completed before the deadline will include a photo and personal statement. Opportunities for active engagement will be shared on the commencement website and through social media.

Graduates with questions regarding their graduation slide can contact the Office of the Registrar at [email protected]

The deadline to RSVP and create a graduation slide has passed and we are not able to make edits to slides after the deadline of May 15, 2021.

All students who graduated in Summer 2020 or Fall 2020 and those expected to graduate in Winter 2021, Spring 2021 or Summer 2021 are invited to participate.

Degrees are cleared approximately two weeks after the term ends. You can see if your degree has been awarded by checking your unofficial transcript in the MyOSU Portal unofficial transcript section.
